The viewing deck by the Information Center at Þingvellir

A young tourist couple shared the viewing platform overlooking Þingvellir with us during a sunny break in spastic weather we've been having over this Easter holiday.


This shot is taken from the western, North American Continental Plate side, looking east out over Þingvallavatn lake to the Eurasian Plate on the other side of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. On the horizon we could just see another set of ominous clouds bearing towards us from the south, ready to burst over the national park. We stayed just long enough to goof off a bit, marvel at the landscape, then get in our car and drive away just as another flurry of snow hid this lovely view ...
