Is the Central Government Planning to Reduce Retirement Age?





A popular English daily reported on the 28th of last month that the Central Government is giving serious thoughts about reducing the retirement age of its employees. The news has created a big buzz among the employees working under Central Government.





It was said that the proposal is part of the Government’s strategy to reduce non-plan expenses. It was mentioned that a senior official said that the move will help giving employment opportunities to new people under the new recommendations to be suggested by the 7th Pay Commission.

Accreditation Certificate for Clinical Laboratories





Health is a State subject. Accreditation of clinical laboratories is undertaken by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) under the Department of Science and Technology. The compliance of requirements under ISO 15189 is used as the criteria for such accreditation by the NABL.





Accreditation of hospitals/laboratories provides a sense of assurance about the availability of quality healthcare service from the accredited institutions.

Subject: Payment of Death Gratuity to a minor — regarding





In accordance with the existing instructions, the payment of a portion of death gratuity could be made to the guardian, in the absence of a natural guardian, without production of a guardianship certificate. As per the existing orders, an amount of Rs.10,000/- (or the first Rs.10,000/- where amount exceeds Rs.10,000/-)in favour of a minor could be made to his/her guardian, in the absence of a natural guardian, without production of a formal guardianship certificate but subject to production of an indemnity bond.

Persons with Disabilities, only 7 States namely Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu have formulated policy for persons with disabilities





Disability Policy





The Department of Personnel & Training has intimated that information about vacant post reserved for persons with disabilities is not centrally maintained. A Special Recruitment Drive for filling up the backlog of persons with disabilities has been launched in November, 2009. The Drive was concluded on 31.03.2012. As per the information received from the 73 Ministries/Departments there were 6003 backlog vacancies, out of which 2388 have been filled up.

Expected Dearness Allowance from January 2015 for Central Govt Employees and Pensioners, almost confirmed 6% increase…





Expected DA from Jan 2015 is on fourth step, no change in the index of CPI(IW) for the month of October 2014, stands at 253 only.





Increase in Dearness allowance for Central Govt employees and Pensioners from Jan 2015 is likely to be 6% and the total Dearness allowance will go up to 113%.

Biometric Attendance System – Are the Central Government Employees Supporting or Opposing It?



BIOMETRIC ATTENDANCE SYSTEM is the procedure of registering the attendance by placing the thumb imprint on a machine which captures the imprint and records the time of entry or exit from the office. In the moderate scheme, the employee has to manually enter his/her 6-digit Aadhaar number and then confirm his/her identity by fingerprint and iris-scan.
