My return

Its like I fell off the face of Earth after I went to Vancouver. But, no, I was swamped with work once I returned from Vancouver! That was three months back!! Time flies when I am busy. Now, I am on a month break after all those hectic months.

What to do on one month of holiday?
1. I am still trying to meet my weight target which is not working as work was overwhelming till I was paying for gym but not going for the past months. Input of food was more than the ampunt of weight I was losing. Depressing but true!

2. Its good to know I am still on some ranking in the blogasphere. I have lost the urge and the want to take pictures of new food I have tried, no matter how amazing, because I knew I did not have time to blog about it. Now I can starr again, for a month at least!

3. Catching up with friends. No, I have not been in contact with old friends. Made new ones at work of course, but work was too much to bond!

4. Look for a house? Its a dream that will soon materialise :) I am proud I bought my own car. Now I need to feel house proud!

5. Lastly, tis the season to be jolly! New year resolutions are underway!

Charity from the heart

Work has kept me busy. Suddenly, blogging time becomes minimal. I am doing things that are interesting and I am still exploring good food and places. It just takes more effort to post up something...

One new interesting project I have taken on is about Autism. Every parent hopes for a normal child. But, sometimes, a special child is born instead. A child who looks normal, but has a mind of his own. We read about autism, we have a general idea of what autism is. But, to give hands-on care for an autistic child is a whole different ball game. I call them special because they really are! Currently, I am learning and experiencing this project on weekends.

I care very much about children. Therefore helping children is what I have been doing since young and I will continue doing it for as long as I can. Many years ago, I did a small charity project for children infected with HIV. It was an eye opening experience.

My contribution is to children. What is yours?

One month!

A month of not blogging goes to show I was too busy to open blogger and start writing. Its a shame really because I still take pictures of everything I do. But, its just pictures kept in my phone. As time goes by, even I forget where or when that picture was taken.

Whats new?
- My hair is now at a managable length.
- I have lost weight but still have more to lose.
- I realise I have become 1 cm shorter!! aka growing old with bad posture :(
- I bake every weekend
- I am busier till I do not have time to even read the newspaper

Whats not new?
- I still love food
- I crave for Japanese food everytime
- My blog ratings are decreasing due to my hiatus and I don't think I care anymore

Introducing my new favourite sushi restaurant- Ichizen. It is located in Pavillion and they currently have 20% discount for any sushi till 30th November 2013.

I loved the food. I liked their service. They come round almost every minute to check if you need to refill your tea. For a new restaurant, it was really packed and there was a queue outside. They do have a good choice of lunch sets which comes at a reasonable price. But, for this month, I am definitely all out for their sushi.

To die for at Ichizen - Salmon mentai sushi and Unagi sushi

Of course, I still enjoy Sushi zanmai. Afterall, Zanmai will always be cheaper. But for more variety, Ichizen is the next best place.

Recalling delicious food from Zanmai:

Besides Japanese food, the craze for burgers has not stopped. This new place called Fuel Shack sells fantastic lamb burger for RM14. There is one at suria KLCC food court and another at the convention centre.

For a meal that is affordable, head over to Restoran Deen at Taman Melawati for some fantastic naan and tandoori.

On another note, The Petronas twin towers turned pink for breast cancer awareness month in October. I loved it that way :)

PIHCS 2013 was a wonderful learning experience.

Baked for OBiNE

I love spending my weekends in the kitchen. With OBiNE now up and running, my weekends in the kitchen has a purpose.

My snow skin mooncakes was turned into a birthday cake which was a good idea. I modified the mooncakes by making it more colourful.

Today I had orders for eggless carrot cupcakes. It was a joy making it.

My love for art and craft makes everything easier :) it would be nice if my blog readers visit my obine facebook page n website. Link is on the right side of this page. 'Like' it, please :)

On another note, I tried to remain healthy last week by preparing vegetables, boiled chicken and chopped red n green apples.

The new IOS 7 looks pretty good.

Have a great weekend!

My birthday

Today is my birthday! I have always enjoyed small parties with meaningful people and the best people to spend birthdays with are my family members. My family and I had an early celebration for me because my bro could only be in town last weekend.

Today, I celebrated my birthday for real with cakes and candles. I am thankful for the chocolate cake my mum made. I am delighted with the chocolate and cheesecake my younger sister bought for me from Intercontinental Hotel. It looked and tasted amazing.
I am touched that I received a present from a friend. I think I buy more birthday presents for friends than I receive. So, it always feels nice to get something.
Mum and dad gave me floral earrings to match my floral dress.

This year has been pretty special. I did get some special presents which I will not reveal yet by the special someone. It is a 'transformation' present so I have to wait for the correct time to reveal.

I am one year older and I feel that I have matured a bit more too. Don't everyone feel like they are always mature enough but realise one year later that they were not that mature actually. I think maturity comes with experience. The experience of taking chances, opportunities and living the moment. I have learnt that spending so much time at home will never make someone mature enough. Meeting new people, understanding different characters, and braving through the ups and downs of life is what I deem as being more mature. This year I made changes. This year I made an effort to change. This year I made more mistakes and I learnt to cope with it. This year I found the kind of company I really like. This year, I found myself.

I have plenty to be thankful for this year.

Always family first :)

We had Japanese cuisine for my birthday at Royal Selangor Club.
Ko-ebi = fried battered tiny prawns. My all time favourite! We had two orders of this.

Edamame = a must have when eating japanese

Unagi = another must have!

Shrimp tempura = drool

Agedashi tofu = :)

Teriyaki cod fish = with crispy skin

Chicken katsu = ok ok

Japanese garlic fried rice

Beef teriyaki

After that meal, I still preferred Sushi Zanmai. So, the next day we headed to 1 Mont Kiara for my sushi fix. I was so much more satisfied!

Growing up

Its always nice to look back at old pictures and see how much we have grown.
My aunties, cousins and I. Can you spot me? :)

When I look back at all the pictures I took, I realised my hairstyle changed and my weight fluctuated. At the very beginning of uni I thought I was fat.

But, when I look at the old photo now, I was not as fat as I thought I was. I am fatter now! HAH!

Before uni started, I was in USA and I was on my feet most of the time. So, I had plenty of exercise.
Photoshoot for Prestige magazine 2008

In uni, it was mostly burning time in the library. Also, unhealthy food became part of my life once uni began. I remember buying so many teh tarik and chicken sandwich because it was the only easy thing to eat in the library. I also started baking, cooking more and trying more food! Before uni, I hardly ate fried food, seldom had McDonalds cravings and I went to gym on a weekly basis.
Stilla makeover = photoshopped imperfections

Suffice to say, not watching what I ate over the years is detrimental. It is also important to have a partner who wants to be healthy too because studies have shown that woman who start dating will gain weight. This was because they try to eat the same portion as their other half on dates.

Three months ago, I started jogging, doing you tube exercises and watching what I ate. I had so much fat to burn that I was losing 1kg per week. That was amazing to me because so many times I lose control of what I eat.

20% exercise, 80% diet!
